Selling your SACCO shares safely
A few simple habits keep a share sale safe from end to end.
Never share your SACCO PIN or login
No genuine buyer, and no one from SaccoShares, will ever ask for your SACCO PIN, password, or one-time passcode. Anyone who asks for these is trying to take over your account, not buy your shares.
Verify the buyer before you agree to anything
Speak to the buyer by phone or video call before proceeding. Be cautious of buyers who refuse to speak directly, rush you, or pressure you to skip your SACCO's normal share-transfer process.
Only transfer shares through your SACCO
A share transfer is only valid once your SACCO processes it through its official transfer procedure. Do not transfer shares, sign forms, or hand over documents outside that process, no matter what the buyer offers.
Never send money to a "buyer"
You are the seller — money should flow to you, not from you. Treat any request for an upfront fee, "processing charge," or refundable deposit as a scam and stop the conversation.
Confirm payment before finalizing the transfer
Confirm the funds have actually landed in your account — not just a screenshot or promise of payment — before you complete the share transfer with your SACCO.
